Acuvance DataRise™ 2025 PCD Subscribers Get CMO & Medical Director Pass At NO EXTRA COST
Acuvance DataRise™ 2025 Provider Compensation Data (PCD) is a subscription focused on personally-performed provider compensation in local markets.
The PCD data platform exclusively includes data for personally-performed provider compensation. These data sources are compliant with Stark regulations concerning both buyer-neutrality and precluded reliance on data containing referral relationships.
This data platform lets users filter and narrow healthcare provider compensation ranges based on a list of practice characteristics. Industry compensation surveys can report large differences in compensation and rates for providers with the exact same productivity. These large differences in compensation and rates can be explained by known and knowable characteristics of practice collections, reimbursement, and expenses.
2025 Edition Announcement
Users can drill down to state and local levels to identify compensation rates for specific specialties. Supporting reimbursement and malpractice expense data is included to validate compensation in unique markets like Alaska, San Francisco, and many others.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why shouldn’t we exclusively use national surveys? Isn’t there is a national market for physician labor?
Several published research studies have found that (i) most physicians stay in the same state and local market and (ii) compensation fluctuates from market-to-market. You are encouraged to review the multiple studies on these topics:
- Dietrich, Mark O. Physician Distribution, Mobility, Fair Market Value and Compensation Surveys. Healthcare Financial Management. July 3, 2018.
- Newsad, Nicholas A. 2020 Physician Relocation Study. HealthCare Appraisers. October 15, 2020.
- Dietrich, Mark O. Physician Distribution, Mobility, Fair Market Value, and Compensation Surveys: An Update. Business Valuation Resources. Business Valuation Update. Vol. 27 No. 12. December 2021.
- Gottlieb, Joshua D. et al. Who Values Human Capitalists’ Human Capital? The Earnings and Labor Supply of U.S. Physicians. National Bureau of Economic Research. Working Paper 31469. July 2023.
Now that Acuvance DataRise™ PCD is here, expert witnesses have a new question to answer in court:
“If local market data was available for the subject arrangement, why didn’t you use it?”
Have the Monte Carlo Method and Earnings-Based Compensation stood up in litigation?
Yes. There are 14 modules in Business Valuation Resources’ proprietary Monte Carlo training course on the use of Monte Carlo in a courtroom, including Daubert challenges, attack points, and cases involving Monte Carlo analysis (Nanovation, Lyondell vs Occidental, TriboFilm, Vernon v Cuomo).
Business Valuation Resources has also hosted a dozen continuing education training sessions on the Monte Carlo Method. Advanced Workshop on Monte Carlo: From Classroom to Boardroom to Courtroom addresses courtroom issues, including: (i) what to expect, (ii) technical challenges, and (iii) making it understandable.
Earnings-based compensation goes hand-in-hand with the reasonable compensation construct set forth by the Internal Revenue Services and the courts. There is ample IRS tax guidance and case law on on the topic of reasonable compensation as it pertains to small business earnings and compensation, including that of physician practices.
This sounds complicated. How do we explain Acuvance DataRise™ PCD to our clients or coworkers?
You can replace the term “Monte Carlo” with “statistics”. Acuvance DataRise™ PCD uses statistics, including probability distributions, to determine ranges of compensation in local markets.
